India name white-ball squads for Australia tour as world champions return to action

India have announced their squads for the T20I and ODI series against Australia in February 2026, marking their first appearance in the 50-over format since being crowned ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup champions. The tour will see India contest three T20Is followed by a multi-match ODI series, beginning in Sydney on February 15.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side in both formats, as India look to build on their historic World Cup triumph and chase a maiden white-ball series victory over Australia on Australian soil. In the ODI squad, selectors have introduced Vaishnavi Sharma, G Kamalini and Kashvee Gautam, while Uma Chetry, Yastika Bhatia and Pratika Rawal miss out from the World Cup-winning group.

India have opted for minimal changes in the T20I squad, making just two adjustments from the recent Sri Lanka series. Shreyanka Patil returns, replacing Harleen Deol, while Bharati Fulmali earns a recall to the national side, marking her comeback to T20 internationals after last featuring in 2019.

The ODI series, beginning on February 24, will serve as India’s first major test since lifting the World Cup and a key measuring stick against the world’s most dominant women’s cricket side. With a blend of proven match-winners and fresh talent, India head into the Australia tour aiming not just to compete, but to redefine their white-ball record against their fiercest rivals.
