The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Trophy made a breathtaking arrival at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (RPICS), Colombo, after being parachuted into the ground by the Sri Lanka Tri-Forces Para Jumpers as part of the official Trophy Tour.
The special display took place moments before the start of the first ODI between Sri Lanka and England, adding a ceremonial and patriotic highlight to the matchday atmosphere at the iconic Colombo venue.
The operation featured five elite para jumpers representing the Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force, including Wing Commander Sampath Piyasundra, Lieutenant Colonel Nalin Kulathunga, Lieutenant Colonel Pushpakumara, Air Commodore Kamal Thissakumara, and senior parachutist Air Commodore Jagath Godakanda, who safely delivered the trophy onto the field.
During the descent, the para jumpers carried the Sri Lanka National Flag, Sri Lanka Cricket Flag, ICC World Cup Flag, the official tournament tagline “Feel the Thrill”, and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Trophy, creating a visually striking tribute to cricket and country.
The Sri Lanka leg of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour continues into Day 3 on January 23, with a media display at the SSC Ground at 10:30 a.m., followed by a public display in front of Dialog Headquarters at 3:00 p.m., giving fans another opportunity to witness the sport’s most coveted prize up close.
