The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Trophy was showcased to the Sri Lankan media this morning (23) as the Trophy Tour continued its island-wide journey, marking Day 3 of the Sri Lanka segment. Sri Lanka T20I captain Dasun Shanaka and fast-bowling star Matheesha Pathirana were present at the media interaction, adding star power to the event and highlighting Sri Lanka’s role as a co-host nation.
The Trophy Tour has generated strong excitement ahead of the global tournament, with fans and stakeholders getting a rare close-up look at one of cricket’s most prestigious prizes. The presence of national players underlined Sri Lanka Cricket’s growing anticipation for the marquee event, which will return to the island after the successful 2012 edition.
On Saturday, January 24 (Day 4 of the Sri Lanka leg), the Trophy Tour will move into its public phase with a motor rally beginning at 9:00 a.m. from Dialog Headquarters, travelling through Colombo’s key landmarks before reaching Havelock City Mall. From 10:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., fans will have the opportunity to view the trophy, take photographs, and capture selfies with the iconic silverware.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled from 7 February to 8 March, will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, bringing world-class cricket back to South Asia. As the Trophy Tour rolls on, momentum continues to build across the country, with Sri Lanka firmly stepping into the global spotlight ahead of one of cricket’s biggest events.
