Pakistan have unveiled a strong 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with Babar Azam sealing his return and a fearsome pace duo set to lead the bowling unit. Captained by Salman Agha, the 2009 champions will look to reclaim global glory when the tournament gets underway across India and Sri Lanka from February 7.
Fresh off becoming the all-time leading run-scorer in men’s T20 internationals, Babar brings both pedigree and stability to Pakistan’s batting line-up. His presence strengthens a top order that will be expected to anchor innings under pressure, particularly in high-voltage group fixtures. Pakistan’s batting depth is further bolstered by a versatile middle order capable of adapting to subcontinental conditions.
With Haris Rauf unavailable, Pakistan have turned to proven firepower, entrusting Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah to lead the pace attack. The pair’s ability to strike early and control the death overs will be central to Pakistan’s title ambitions, especially on flatter surfaces expected later in the tournament.
All-round depth remains a defining feature of the squad, as Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf offer flexibility with both bat and ball. That balance provides Pakistan with multiple combinations and tactical options as they navigate a demanding schedule.
Drawn in Group A alongside India, Netherlands, USA and Namibia, Pakistan will begin their campaign against the Netherlands in Colombo on February 7. With experience, firepower and renewed belief, Pakistan arrive at T20 World Cup 2026 eyeing a long-awaited return to the summit of the shortest format.
