- Maximum reserve price set by 45 top players
- 77 slots to be filled across 10 franchises
- Auction scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi
Sri Lanka stars Matheesha Pathirana, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Maheesh Theekshana are among 45 players to list the maximum reserve price of INR 2 crore for the 2026 IPL auction. The long list features 1,355 registered players, with franchises now preparing to submit their shortlists by December 5 ahead of the Abu Dhabi auction on December 16.
Franchises have a total of 77 slots to fill, including 31 overseas players, with Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings entering the auction with the largest purses. Australian allrounder Cameron Green is expected to be a key attraction, potentially targeted by KKR following the recent retirement of Andre Russell.
Several big names recently released by franchises have also listed themselves in the top reserve price bracket. England’s Liam Livingstone, India’s Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi, along with Sri Lanka’s Pathirana, are all in contention for lucrative deals. CSK had previously retained Pathirana for 13 crore, while Venkatesh was bought back by KKR for 23.75 crore at last year’s mega-auction.
Notable absentees include Glenn Maxwell and Moeen Ali, who are unavailable for the 2026 season due to injuries or commitments in other leagues. Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis is also in the auction pool but will only be available for 25% of the season, adding another twist to the bidding strategies.
The 2026 IPL auction promises a thrilling contest for franchises looking to strengthen their squads, with big names and high-stake bids likely to dominate the headlines.
