Vaibhav Suryavanshi produced a jaw-dropping knock in the Under-19 Asia Cup opener, hammering 171 off just 95 balls against UAE Under-19s to set up a commanding start for India. The teenage sensation fell just six runs short of Ambati Rayudu’s long-standing Indian record for the highest youth one-day score.
Batting with fearless intent, the 14-year-old cleared the ropes at will, smashing 14 sixes and nine fours before being bowled attempting a paddle in the 33rd over. His blitz powered India Under-19s to a mammoth 433 for 6, a total that proved far beyond UAE’s reach.
UAE were restricted to 199 for 7, handing India a thumping 234-run victory and earning Suryavanshi the Player of the Match award. It was another emphatic statement from a batter who continues to dominate every level he plays.
Suryavanshi’s rise has been relentless in 2025. He became the youngest IPL centurion earlier this year, starred for Rajasthan Royals, and piled on runs across youth tours of England and Australia. With the Under-19 World Cup looming next month, Indian cricket’s newest prodigy looks more than ready for the global stage.
