Shaheen Afridi removed for dangerous bowling on BBL debut

Shaheen Shah Afridi’s BBL debut for Melbourne Renegades hit a bump as he was removed from the attack for dangerous bowling in Geelong against Brisbane Heat.

In the 18th over of Renegades’ innings, Afridi bowled two waist-high full tosses, one each to Tim Seifert and Ollie Peake, and was forced out of the attack, finishing with 0-43 off 2.4 overs, including three no-balls and two wides. Heat captain Nathan McSweeney completed the over in Afridi’s place.

Afridi had started well, bowling three dot balls in his first over, but struggled with his lengths later, conceding 19 runs in the 13th over and 17 runs in the 18th. Despite the tough debut, Renegades posted a massive 212 for 5, led by Seifert’s 102 off 56 balls and Peake’s 57 off 29. Mohammad Rizwan, also debuting, managed just 4 runs from 10 deliveries.

Afridi’s rough introduction highlighted the challenges of adapting to the BBL, but his potential remains clear for future matches.
