Ellyse Perry’s unbeaten 77 powered the Sydney Sixers to a six-wicket victory over Sydney Thunder, propelling them into the WBBL’s top four.
Chasing 175, Perry anchored the innings alongside Sophia Dunkley’s 44 and guided the Sixers home with five balls to spare, ending Thunder’s realistic finals hopes after a disappointing season with just two wins from seven completed matches.
Thunder had looked poised after Heather Knight’s 65 and Anika Learoyd’s 43 rescued them from 34 for 4, but Perry’s composed assault, featuring towering sixes and crisp boundaries, ensured the Sixers maintained momentum in the finals race.
The win leaves Sydney Sixers third on eight points with a game in hand, ahead of a three-way battle involving the Melbourne Renegades, Perth Scorchers, and Adelaide Strikers for the remaining finals spots.
Perry’s masterclass reinforced her status as one of the competition’s premier allrounders, continuing Sydney Sixers’ winning streak following their 42-run collapse against Melbourne Stars 10 days ago.
