Oval Invincibles become MI London as Reliance deal finalised

Oval Invincibles, the most successful franchise in The Hundred, will be rebranded MI London from 2026, after Surrey and Reliance Industries finalised their long-awaited partnership.

The move aligns both the men’s and women’s teams with the Mumbai Indians global brand, which already includes teams in the IPL, MI Cape Town (SA20), MI Emirates (ILT20), MI New York (Major League Cricket), and the Mumbai Indians women’s team in the WPL.

Reliance acquired a 49% stake in Oval Invincibles, valuing the franchise at £123 million, second only to London Spirit (£295 million). Surrey had initially hesitated to relinquish the Invincibles’ identity, which had delivered five titles in five years, including back-to-back women’s championships in 2021–22 and a men’s title this summer.

Surrey chairman Oli Slipper praised the MI brand, highlighting its 13 titles in 17 years and global cricket expertise. He added that the MI London brand would grow the franchise’s fanbase, enhance commercial value, and support sustainable growth for Surrey and local cricket.

Nita M. Ambani, co-owner of Mumbai Indians, said: “We are delighted to welcome MI London into the #OneFamily. London holds a special place in cricket, and we look forward to nurturing talent, engaging communities, and uniting fans.”

Akash Ambani echoed the sentiment, noting the Invincibles’ record aligns perfectly with the MI ethos of passion, resilience, and teamwork, while aiming to expand cricket’s reach across continents.

The eight Hundred partnerships collectively value the franchises at over £975 million, with £500 million earmarked for English and Welsh cricket, including £50 million for grassroots development.

Vikram Banerjee, Managing Director of The Hundred, called it a “milestone moment,” with partners poised to elevate the tournament and deliver the best 2026 season yet.
