Naim, Hridoy, Litton top BPL auction as Veterans Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur find teams

Mohammad Naim became the most expensive local player at the BPL auction on Sunday, joining Chittagong Royals for more than BDT 1 crore (USD 88,000 approx). Naim, the highest run-scorer in last season’s BPL with 511 runs at a strike rate of 143.94, was the first player put up for sale.

Rangpur Riders secured Towhid Hridoy (USD 73,600) and Litton Das (USD 56,000) for significant sums, while veterans Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim, initially unsold, were later picked by Rangpur and Rajshahi Warriors at their base price of BDT 35 lakh (USD 28,000).

Among overseas signings, Dasun Shanaka went to Dhaka Capitals for USD 55,000, while Angelo Mathews and Niroshan Dickwella joined Chittagong Royals and Sylhet Titans at their category A base price of USD 35,000. Uncapped talent Habibur Rahman Sohan, fresh from Bangladesh A’s Rising Stars Asia Cup performance, was bought by Noakhali Express for USD 40,000.

The six teams competing in this first-ever BPL auction since 2012 are Dhaka Capitals, Rangpur Riders, Rajshahi Warriors, Noakhali Express, Sylhet Titans, and Chittagong Royals. The tournament is set to commence on December 26.
