Pakistan Under-19s opened their Asia Cup campaign in emphatic fashion, hammering Malaysia U-19s by 297 runs after piling up 345 for 3 in Dubai.
Opener Sameer Minhas led the onslaught with a commanding 177* off 148 balls, smashing 11 fours and eight sixes, while Ahmed Hussain provided perfect support with a fluent 132 from 114 deliveries. The pair stitched together a colossal 293-run stand for the third wicket, completely flattening Malaysia after Pakistan had lost two early wickets.
Malaysia’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, with Nagineswaran Sathnakumaran (2-91) and Muhammad Akram (1-64) the only wicket-takers in a punishing innings that left the contest effectively decided well before the final over.
The chase never got going for Malaysia, who crumbled under scoreboard pressure and were bowled out for just 48 in 19.4 overs. Ali Raza struck with the second ball of the innings and went on to claim 3 for 11, while Mohammad Sayyam matched him with three wickets of his own and Daniyal Ali Khan added two more.
The dominant win gives Pakistan a huge net run-rate boost and places them on top of Group A, setting up a high-profile clash against India U-19s on Sunday (14), with Malaysia scheduled to face UAE U-19s the same day.
