Phoebe Litchfield’s brilliant 61 off 43 balls powered Sydney Thunder to a 23-run win over a struggling Brisbane Heat, despite a four-wicket haul from Sarah Glenn. Chasing 154, Heat never settled, collapsing to 10 for 3 and 30 for 4 inside the first half of their innings.
Chinelle Henry’s early retirement hurt the Heat further after a jaw blow from Shabnim Ismail, while Annie O’Neil’s late surge of 33 off 21 provided some resistance. She was caught off the final ball, leaving Georgia Voll with her second wicket and confirming Thunder’s victory.
Thunder had themselves endured a collapse earlier, slumping to 33 for 4 and 93 for 6 by the 13th over. Litchfield’s innings, featuring eight fours and a six, steadied the ship, and Em Arlott’s 26 not out off 19 ensured the total crossed 150.
Glenn’s 4 for 18 showcased her skill, claiming three of the first four Thunder wickets, but Heat remained winless, with just one point from an abandoned match this season.
The victory gives Thunder three wins from nine matches, lifting them above the bottom of the WBBL table.
