Harmanpreet Kaur, Yuvraj Singh honoured with stands at New Chandigarh Stadium

India women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur and former India allrounder Yuvraj Singh were honoured with stadium stands named after them at the New Chandigarh Stadium. The inauguration took place ahead of the second men’s T20I between India and South Africa.

Both legends were present at the ceremony, accompanied by their family, team-mates, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Yuvraj Singh also addressed the Indian team during a pre-match huddle, offering words of encouragement.

Yuvraj Singh retired from international cricket in 2019 after a stellar career spanning 40 Tests, 304 ODIs, and 58 T20Is. He was part of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup-winning squad and played a key role in the 2011 ODI World Cup triumph, earning Player of the Series for his 362 runs and 15 wickets.

Harmanpreet Kaur, who recently led India to their first-ever Women’s World Cup victory, is one of the most influential figures in women’s cricket. Since her debut in 2009, she has played six Tests, 161 ODIs, and 182 T20Is, amassing 4,409 ODI runs and 3,654 T20I runs.

The gesture highlights the growing recognition of both men’s and women’s cricket icons in India and celebrates their contributions to the sport.
