Harmanpreet Kaur fires as India crush Sri Lanka to seal stunning 5-0 T20I sweep

India finished the series in style. A captain’s knock from Harmanpreet Kaur (68 off 43) powered India to 175 for 7, before the bowlers held their nerve to secure a 15-run win in Thiruvananthapuram and complete a dominant 5-0 sweep over Sri Lanka.

The night also belonged to Deepti Sharma, who became the leading wicket-taker in women’s T20Is with 152 wickets, overtaking Megan Schutt. It was another historic chapter for India, who now join England as the only teams with three 5-0 whitewashes in women’s T20I history.

India didn’t have it easy early. Reduced to 77 for 5, the hosts needed a rescue act, and Harmanpreet delivered. Calm. Calculated. Classy. She controlled the middle overs, attacked the spinners, and rebuilt the innings with Amanjot Kaur (21) before Arundhati Reddy smashed an unbeaten 27 off 11, lifting India to a match-winning total with 32 runs in the last two overs.

Sri Lanka’s chase found hope in Hasini Perera (65 off 42) and Imesha Dulani (50) who added 79 for the second wicket. But once their stand was broken, India applied the squeeze. Sri Lanka slid from 132 for 4 to 160 for 7, falling short despite the dew and a brave fight.

A clean sweep. A statement summer. A captain back to her brutal best. And a record-breaking Deepti Sharma leading the way. India Women end the series undefeated, ruthless, composed, and very much in control.
