Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland withdraw from WPL 2026; Tara Norris also ruled out

  • Perry and Sutherland pull out, citing personal reasons
  • Alana King and Sayali Satghare named as replacements
  • Tara Norris to represent USA in T20 World Cup Qualifier

Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 has been dealt a major double blow with Ellyse Perry (RCB) and Annabel Sutherland (DC) withdrawing from the season due to personal reasons. UP Warriorz seamer Tara Norris has also been ruled out after earning a USA call-up for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers.

Delhi Capitals moved swiftly, naming Australia legspinner Alana King as Sutherland’s replacement. King, who featured once for UP Warriorz in 2025, arrives in excellent rhythm after 12 wickets in 13 games for Perth Scorchers during their WBBL runners-up campaign. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have secured pace-bowling allrounder Sayali Satghare, previously part of Gujarat Giants, for INR 30 lakh after Perry’s withdrawal. Perry, retained for INR 2 crore, is the second-highest run-scorer in WPL history and was instrumental in RCB’s 2024 title win.

Sutherland, retained for INR 2.2 crore, exits after two seasons with DC, with her all-round quality set to be missed. Meanwhile, Warriorz have signed Australian batting allrounder Charli Knott as Norris’ replacement at INR 10 lakh. Knott brings experience from six WBBL seasons and two Hundred campaigns, despite being uncapped internationally.

Norris had earlier played for Delhi Capitals in 2023, where she claimed seven wickets in five matches. Her USA selection underlines the country’s growing depth ahead of the global qualifiers, but leaves the Warriorz reshaping their plans.

With two of the league’s biggest overseas stars now unavailable, WPL 2026 will test squad depth and adaptability, and open the door for new heroes to step forward.
