India’s Deepti Sharma has reached the summit of the ICC T20I bowling rankings for the first time in her career, rising to No. 1 after her tidy spell in the opening T20I against Sri Lanka in Visakhapatnam. Deepti’s figures of 1 for 20 helped India secure victory and earned her five rating points, taking her to 737, narrowly ahead of Australia’s Annabel Sutherland.
Deepti’s rise capped a strong all-round performance by India, with Jemimah Rodrigues also making significant gains. Her match-winning 69* off 44 balls lifted her five places to No. 9 in the T20I batting rankings, joining Smriti Mandhana (No. 3) and Shafali Verma (No. 10) in the top ten.
In the ODI rankings, however, Mandhana relinquished the top spot as Laura Wolvaardt surged back to No. 1 among batters. The South African skipper was in sublime form against Ireland, smashing back-to-back centuries in a dominant 3–0 series win at home.
Wolvaardt finished as the highest run-scorer and Player of the Series, amassing 255 runs at an average of 127.50. Her standout efforts included a commanding 124 in South Africa’s 375-run effort in the second ODI and an unbeaten 100 in a successful chase in the third, underlining her status as one of world cricket’s most consistent performers.
