Ireland stunned Bangladesh in Chattogram with a commanding 39-run victory, powered by a brilliant all-round effort and a match-winning partnership from the Tector brothers. The win marks Ireland’s third T20I triumph over Bangladesh and their first victory of the year.
Tim Tector’s explosive 19-ball 32 set the tone early before Harry Tector launched a fierce assault, smashing five sixes in a superb unbeaten 69 off 45 balls. Their combined hitting lifted Ireland to a strong 181 for 4 despite the heavy dew.
Bangladesh crumbled in the powerplay as Mark Adair, returning from knee surgery, delivered a fiery spell of 2 for 3 in two overs. But the star with the ball was Matthew Humphreys, who produced a sensational 4 for 13, including three wickets in a dramatic final over with the wet ball skidding everywhere.
Towhid Hridoy fought alone with a fighting 83*, adding 48 for the ninth wicket, but Ireland’s early burst left Bangladesh too far behind as they folded for 142 for 9. The visitors now take a 1–0 lead after a complete performance.
