Melbourne Renegades delivered a dominant display in Sydney, dismantling the Sydney Thunder by eight wickets after rolling them for just 64 — the third-lowest total in WBBL history.
The defending champions unleashed a four-pronged spin attack, with Georgia Wareham’s 3 for 12 leading the rout. Charis Bekker, Sophie Molineux, and Alice Capsey choked Thunder with stump-to-stump accuracy as poor shot selection compounded the home side’s struggles.
Thunder never recovered after slipping to 21 for 3 in the powerplay, and once Heather Knight fell, lbw, any hopes of reaching triple figures vanished. Georgia Voll admitted the batting collapse was “pretty disappointing,” acknowledging her team failed to adapt to the conditions.
Chasing a modest 65, Renegades cruised home on the first ball of the 12th over. Captain Molineux anchored the innings with an unbeaten 29, finishing alongside player of the match Capsey.
The win lifts Renegades to outright second on the ladder with four matches remaining, placing them firmly in contention for another deep finals run.
