- Hasan Nawaz sent to Quaid-e-Azam Trophy; no ODI replacement named.
- Fakhar Zaman recalled to T20I squad for upcoming tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
Pakistan have omitted batter Hasan Nawaz from both the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka and the T20I tri-series later this month. Nawaz has been redirected to participate in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, while no replacement has been named for the ODIs.
Fakhar Zaman has been called up to the T20I squad, taking Nawaz’s place for the multi-team tournament. This will be the first T20I tri-series ever held in Pakistan, starting November 17 and also featuring Zimbabwe.
Hasan Nawaz first came into the spotlight with a match-winning T20I century against New Zealand in March, but inconsistent form and failures in recent months, including only one double-digit score in his last eight T20Is, led to his exclusion. Despite previous success in the PSL and potential as a big-hitting middle-order batter, Pakistan opted to prioritize match awareness and form heading into these important series.
The three ODIs against Sri Lanka begin on November 11, providing the team an early chance to test squad combinations ahead of the historic T20I tri-series.
