Northern Superchargers have officially been renamed Sunrisers Leeds following their £100 million takeover by India’s Sun Group, marking the first of three expected rebrands in The Hundred ahead of the 2026 season.
The Chennai-based media conglomerate, which also owns Sunrisers Hyderabad and Sunrisers Eastern Cape, now holds 100% ownership after purchasing Yorkshire’s 51% stake and the ECB’s 49%. The new name reflects the group’s growing global cricket footprint.
Yorkshire CEO Sanjay Patel said the sale would help clear long-standing debts and secure the club’s financial future. Meanwhile, reports link Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Daniel Vettori to the men’s head coach role following Andrew Flintoff’s exit.
Two further rebrands are on the horizon — Manchester Originals are set to become Manchester Super Giants, and Oval Invincibles are expected to be renamed MI London. The Hundred’s 2026 season will also introduce player auctions and increased overseas slots to attract global talent.
