Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi confirm 10-year PSL franchise renewal

Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi have officially renewed their Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise rights for another ten years, becoming the first teams to publicly confirm their long-term commitment. Qalandars, three-time PSL champions, were valued at approximately PKR 980 million (USD 3.47 million) per year, with owners Sameen and Atif Rana set to pay an annual fee of PKR 670 million (USD 2.37 million) under the new terms.

Shortly after, Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi confirmed their renewal, with the franchise now valued at PKR 870 million (USD 3.1 million). Afridi’s annual fee will be PKR 500 million (USD 1.8 million), reflecting the team’s growth since 2016. Both sides cited a commitment to long-term development and sustainable growth within Pakistan’s cricketing ecosystem.

While the remaining franchises are expected to follow suit, Multan Sultans remains the only team yet to finalize renewal. The Sultans’ valuation has declined from PKR 1.1 billion to PKR 850 million (USD 3 million), creating a dispute over renewal fees and legal tensions with PSL management.

Qalandars now surpass Karachi Kings to become the league’s most valuable franchise, highlighting their on-field success and organizational strength. The PSL also plans to expand with two new teams next season, with bidding scheduled early next year.
