Suryakumar sparks, rain strikes — Canberra T20I ends in no result

The opening T20I between India and Australia in Canberra ended without a result after persistent rain washed out play, but Suryakumar Yadav offered a glimpse of his best form with a fluent 39* off 22 balls.

India, led by Suryakumar, had raced to 97 for 1 in 9.4 overs when the weather turned again, forcing an early finish to the contest already reduced to 18 overs per side. Shubman Gill supported well with a composed 37*.

Suryakumar’s innings, featuring bold strokes including two fours and two sixes, marked an encouraging return to form after a lean patch in international T20s.

The series now moves to Melbourne, with both teams hoping for clearer skies in the second T20I.
